"Whoooooo Loves You?"
I made this card for my step-daughter to mail to her mom for last year's Valentines Day. Her mom lives out of the country and I try to help her stay connected with her...especially on holidays. I helped her make a really cute one the year before as well, but I don't know for sure that I have a photo of it. If I can find it on a CF card somewhere, I'll load it here later.
For this design, I used several papers I had on hand and cut out a variety of heart shapes from each one. The wing "tips" are done with a leaf punch, as are the feathers on the eyes. I didn't have a pattern, I just pieced together the hearts in a way that made it look like some of the owl designs I'd seen floating around on Pinterest. (By the way.....how DID we EVER survive without Pinterest??)
The base of the card is a doubled over heart so that it opens at the bottom, which allows it to stand up on it's "feet".
Inside the card, she wrote "Owl always love you".
I also made a necklace for her mom that had owls on it, as well as a small photo of herself. I hear that her mom really liked all of it, so it was worth the effort I spent to make it for her. It's important to me to make sure that I am doing everything I can to help her continue to have a close relationship to her mom. I know how it feels to be on the other side of it and how painful it is to not have your own children living with you.
