Spring is here....Ahhhh, happiness!
One of the things that I love most about the home I share with my husband (besides HIM, of course), is that there is a HUGE island in the kitchen (like 8-feet-long-huge). Not only is it wonderfully convenient when I am cooking up a storm, but it gives me ample space to put out seasonal decor. Sometimes I go a little nuts in my decorating...like for Christmas and the fall holidays.
Something about this spring in particular just made me feel the need to have LOTS of little birdie things on the island. I think it's all the changes that are happening in our life that did it to me.
Major upheaval coming, and a few minor turnovers as well. It's just our life due to the circumstances we are called to bear. I think the eggs symbolize a NEW LIFE to me. Plus, I have a thing for birdies...I really love watching them in my backyard and they make me happy...they always have.
I have to look at a lot of the changes that are coming as NEW and better, not unwanted and difficult. But trust me, there are days when I have to consciously stop doing the latter. And that's not good...I need to focus on the positive about everything.
Back to the decorating! The most recent acquisition in all of these items was the runner...it's a dreamy shade of blue with a white paisley design. I just knew when I saw it that it needed to be part of my spring decor. Once I started pulling everything together the outcome just made me swoon. I even found my display set of Wedgewood china that I used as liners for some of the other items. The design on the edge is the exact shade of blue to match the runner. Meant. To. Be.
Enjoy....it's Springtime in my kitchen!!
I found this sign at HomeGoods, and I made the eggs.

I found some great mini florals and ferns for the cloche.
Added a few faux pussy willows...so pretty.
This is the backside of the centerpiece and the view from my sink area.
I found this platter thrifting a few years ago. It. Made. My. Month. Soooo me.
Cute little birdie resting on a Wedgewood saucer along with a vintage demitasse cup that I filled with painted eggs.
(please ignore the piece of moss on the plate that looks like a bug leg. I promise it's moss....)
One of my sets of vintage cup and saucers...filled with an egg and some flowers.
My giant speckled, sparkly egg...nesting on top of a vintage vase that I think looks like a giant egg cup!
The view from the end of the island looking towards the stove.
The other end of the display. I recently found the Wedgewood Blue platter for $1.00 at a thrift store!
Totally excited to find that!
My big blue toile egg stand along with a nest and another jar...see below for a close up.
It's a little hard to make out the interior of this jar because of the ridged glass, but I have a vintage postcard inside along with a nested egg and some flowers. My sweet hubby bought me the jar last year for Mother's Day.
I added some scrabble tiles to this nest after I took the other photos, but I wanted to include it in this post.
I hope you enjoyed the view of my Spring Island!
